Violent video games are a hot topic, especially after the horrific shootings that occurred at Va Tech. I truly feel terrible for the families of everyone involved and send out my deepest condolences. Having the media that we do, video games were the first thing that got the blame. Jack Thompson (registered asshole) and Dr. Phil (registered dickhole) were a couple high profile people who came out and placed the blame on these games. Quite honestly, I can see how some people can play too many video games and people thinks that this is what fucks them up, but I feel that the people who think this have never played a video game in their life. Can you honestly tell me that Dr. Fucking Phil has played Grand Theft Auto before? How many of you reading this have parents who actually play the video games that you buy? My mom was one who feels that I should not be playing violent video games; therefore, she does not allow relatives to buy me games and she refuses to buy them for me. She does not ever prevent me from buying them, she just doesn’t want to add to my habits. And I can honestly say she has never even seen me play one of these games, so my question is, how does she know that its bad for me?
Yeah I know the site is for funny shit, but I just felt the need to take some time to look at a real issue at hand. Placing blame onto video games is a bullshit cop out. If I decide to bomb my neighbors house, can I blame it on the government? I thought he had weapons of mass destruction. I saw the government do it so we should change the government. Fuck that thought process. Banning video games won’t prevent these, there has been no proof that it will or that video games even make people more violent (don’t be an asshole and find one study that says it does, because I’ve done research and most of the studies contradict each other). My personal opinion is that they are a stress relief tool or even some way to act out some sick fantasy you may have. Think about it, at one point or another you have said the words “I wanna kill insert name here” Does that mean you literally are going to? Hell no. But if you really are that mad, why not plug in Mortal Kombat and beat some ass to relieve that stress? Its healthier than going down a sidewalk and literally beating the shit out of some random mother fucker. As I said, I do think that this may be a good way to get those sick fantasies out of your mind, instead of leaving them in there and letting them build up. Some games that may help you get rid of this shit would be, Manhunt, the GTA series, Dynasty Warriors, God of War, The Punisher, CS, or even Super Smash Bros. This way you can beat the shit out of people who were never alive to begin with and it won’t be a problem.
From what I’ve read about this kid from Va Tech who went on the shooting spree, video games weren’t his problem. His problem was that he was a loner with a knack for writing deranged stories. And not only did he write these stories, he turned them in as class assignments…and not one teacher thought this was disturbing? No one felt the need to confront him on this? Tell him to get help? Anything? The problem isn’t video games, the problem is society. Society has too much indifference towards people like this. When you read a paper about a son and his father getting in a battle involving hammers, knives and chainsaws (the kid actually did write that) no one felt that the writer of such a graphic paper needed some help? No matter how you look at this there is something wrong. Sure a teacher could say it was just “creative,” but one can only write so many “creative” papers before attention should be drawn. Society should not just look the other way when these instances occur, but confront them in an attempt to stop these incidents.
I hope that everyone can take some time out of any day and say a prayer for all of those affected by the Va Tech shooting. I’m positive when I say all of us at facilitatr are deeply sorry and send out our best to the families. Remember that this incident could and can happen at any school, so if you notice something wrong with someone, don’t be afraid to speak out, it could save lives.

Yeah shit’s fucked up. But not only was the kid disturbed he was a Korean Nationalist. So yeah, he was fucked up on 2 sides. I don’t even care what Dr. Fuckhead have to say about video games. They wont be banned and they’re already limited to 17 and older or w.e. What’s next? 21 and older? W.E. I’ll get ppl to buy them for me just like everyone else. People are stupid when they think they know what they’re talking about. Just like you said. If they haven’t even sat down and played the damn games they shouldn’t be able to say shit about it. So i say GTFO Dr. Fuckhead.
Actually, good idea Lopez. Some serious, well-conducted arguments on this site isn’t a half bad idea, even if it’s just for a break in the bullshit we put out.
Banning violent video games, or restricting them further, is not going to help anything. As Gandalf always says “You can’t legislate morality!”
